Lindwela, a company based in the Gothenburg region, is one of the businesses selected by the Sweden Secure Tech Hub to receive support from a cybersecurity expert. The company has developed a digital behavior and motivation coach designed to help users build long-term exercise habits. The initiative is based on the insight that many fitness routines are abandoned early on, and that sustainable behavioral change is rarely just a matter of willpower. Instead, lasting habits often depend on having the right conditions, support, and methods integrated into everyday life.
Long-Term and Personalized Coaching
Lindwela’s service has been developed in collaboration with researchers in psychology and behavioral change, primarily Professor Magnus Lindwall at the University of Gothenburg and his colleagues. The methodology combines several well-established research areas, each with strong scientific support, into one cohesive framework.
“Users are guided through structured questions and follow-up questions that help them move forward. The focus is on reflection, goal setting, and planning, but also on identifying everyday obstacles and finding strategies that work over time. The service is not a workout program or a tracking app, nor is it based on performance-driven reward systems. Instead, it is designed as a digital conversational support tool built around long-term thinking and personalization, with recurring dialogues and thematic deep-dives into motivation, goals, habits, and obstacles,” says Johan L Natt och Dag at Lindwela.
Expert Support for SMEs Across Sweden
As part of its efforts to develop and operate digital services where trust and resilience are essential, Lindwela has been selected to receive cybersecurity expert support through the EU-funded initiative Sweden Secure Tech Hub. The initiative is run jointly by six science parks across Sweden. The expert support aims to strengthen Lindwela’s ability to work systematically with security in a service that handles user dialogues and potentially sensitive information related to behaviors and habits.
“Our role in this project is to help small and medium-sized companies translate cybersecurity into practical actions that create long-term impact. Through this expert support, we help Lindwela strengthen its systematic security efforts, prioritize the right measures, and build resilience that lasts over time. This is both about reducing risks and strengthening trust in the service among users and partners,” says Katarina Nordström, Project Manager at Lindholmen Science Park
For a service built around personal dialogues and individualized support, cybersecurity becomes a central part of both product development and user trust. It is not only about protecting data, but also about creating confidence among customers and users regarding how the service operates and is maintained over time.
“In the app, we naturally handle personal data with the highest level of security. It is important to us that both larger clients and users can feel completely confident that the data they provide is handled as securely as possible. By having experts review every part of the business and the product, we gain a kind of assurance that what we communicate actually holds true. That is important for our customers,” says Johan L Natt och Dag.
We look forward to following up on Lindwela’s experiences once the expert support initiative has been completed.
